LonelyWiki is a simple, single-page website. We take your privacy seriously and keep data collection to a minimum.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people find and use LonelyWiki. This collects anonymous usage data including pages visited, time on site, general geographic region (country/city level), browser type, and device type. Google Analytics uses cookies and may process your IP address. This data is used solely to improve the site and understand which languages and articles are most read.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by using a browser with tracking protection enabled (such as Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection, or Brave).
When you visit an article, we increment an anonymous counter stored in our database (Supabase). We do not store your IP address, name, or any personally identifiable information. The counter simply records that someone visited, not who.
Article content is fetched live from Wikipedia's public API. Your request goes directly to Wikimedia's servers. Their privacy policy applies: foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy
We do not set any cookies ourselves. Google Analytics may set cookies to distinguish unique visitors. No advertising cookies are used.
We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties beyond what is described above (Google Analytics and Supabase for counter storage).
LonelyWiki is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If you have questions about this privacy policy, you can reach us through the contact page.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
